Travel Doctor Book

The Travel Doctor™
Your guide to staying healthy while you travel
By Mark Wise M.D.

In bedIn 2002, I wrote the book - The Travel Doctor™ - Your guide to staying healthy while you travel. It is still up to date.

It will tell you almost everything you need to know about the health concerns you may have while you are getting ready for your trip, while you are away, and upon your return. I may be biased, but I think that you will find it an excellent source of information - accurate, up-to-date, humourous, and above all, easy to understand. From malaria, to Montezuma's Revenge, to culture shock, women's issues, Pre-travel Inoculations, medical care abroad, altitude sickness, personal safety, STDs, first-aid kits, and what to do when you return with a rash, diarrhea and a fever of 40 degrees centigrade - it's all included! Above is my son Michael avidly reading my book at bedtime!

THE travel docYou might wonder if the Travel Doctor ever gets sick when he travels. Well 35 years ago, in the pre-Cipro days, I had a memorable bout of traveller’s diarrhea in Ecuador. The sun has gotten the better of me in Guatemala and India. Jet lag was pretty bad when I returned from Nepal. But my biggest problem has been in Ghana, where in spite of my good vision, I have slipped into the open sewers on two occasions. Fortunately, it was the dry season!
